Cookie policy
Version 1.0 · revised 15 September 2026
What we set
Two things matter here. First: this site sets exactly one first-party cookie, and it stores your consent choice. Second: optional categories load nothing until you allow them — the choice cookie is the only one that can ever exist before you have a choice.
The cookie table
This table lists every cookie the site itself sets. If we ever add one, it appears here the same day.
| Name | Party | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
spu_consent |
First | Stores your consent state (a small JSON record with a timestamp) | 180 days | Strictly necessary |
Nothing else is set by our pages. The host that serves the files may log requests server-side, which the privacy policy covers.
The three categories
Strictly necessary holds only the consent cookie described above; it stays on so the site remembers your answer. Measurement would load a small tag to see which guides get read. Marketing would load a tag to reach similar readers elsewhere. Both optional categories are off until you allow them, and they can be turned off again at any time with the same result: nothing runs without the spu:consent-saved event our consent script emits.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of the optional categories and save that answer automatically. The site honours the signal without asking you twice.
Changing your choice
Open the preferences dialog and switch the categories. The choice lands in the spu_consent cookie for another 180 days.
